In an effort to elevate the standard of education and tailor it to the dynamic demands of society and the job market, The TAMISEMI – President’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government (PO-RALG) has announced new combination options for Form Five students starting in July 2024.
These combinations will determine the subjects students focus on during their senior year of high school.
The aim is to increase the specifics and to address the long-standing shortage of experts in the country and prepare the student to be self-employed/employed immediately after graduation.
The Form Five New Combinations span a wide array of subject areas, covering STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), humanities, and vocational studies. Crafted to offer students a comprehensive education while enabling specialization in their areas of interest, these combinations incorporate key subject areas such as:
A: STEM Focus: This combination emphasizes subjects like Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, equipping students with the necessary skills for careers in engineering, medicine, research, and technology.
B: Commerce and Business Studies: With a focus on Economics, Accountancy, Commerce, and Business Studies, this combination prepares students for roles in finance, entrepreneurship, management, and commerce-related fields.
C: Humanities and Social Sciences: This combination includes subjects such as History, Geography, Kiswahili, and Literature, providing students with a deep understanding of human society, culture, and language.
