PROMOTION OF TEACHERS
Regulation no. 8 of the 2016 Teacher Service Regulations has defined the qualifications required for a teacher to be promoted.
In addition, Circular No. 1 of 2014 issued by the Secretary General, Office of the President, Public Service Management and Good Governance, regarding the promotion procedure for Public Servants including Teachers, has directed the procedure to be considered in promotion.
Important points to consider for Promotion of a Teacher include:- Qualifications For Promotion of Teachers
1. Presence of Teacher Cadre Structure;
2. The presence of an animated Tange;
3. Existence of the salary budget and approved Ikama;
4. The teacher being promoted must be certified on the job;
5. He must not have any disciplinary charges;
6. Have a good performance measured in the Open Performance Review and Evaluation System (OPRAS) currently PEPMIS for a period of not less than three years; and
7. He should have enough experience in the position he serves as far as the instructions given by the Government
