LOCATION
The University is located north of the magnificent Uluguru Mountains, some 4 km from the centre of Morogoro Municipality, about 300m off the Morogoro-Dodoma highway and just about 10-minutes walk from the main bus terminal at Msamvu. The campus, surrounded by a wall and set in beautiful gardens, covers about 18 hectares.
OBJECTIVES
The objectives of the Muslim University of Morogoro (MUM) are to advance education through a variety of patterns, levels and modes of study and by a diversity of means by encouraging and developing learning and creativity, for the benefit of the community.
Specifically the Muslim community in the United Republic of Tanzania and beyond; to preserve, advance and disseminate knowledge and culture through teaching, scholarship and research, and to make available the results of such research;
And to promote wisdom and understanding by example and, to develop the character of its students and staff by virtue of its corporate life guided by Islamic moral values.

Undergraduate Programs

DIRECT ENTRY (FORM SIX)
The minimum entry requirements for the degree programmes under direct entry qualifications are: –
Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (C.S.E.E.) or East African Certificate of Education (Ordinary Level) or equivalent with credit passes in THREE approved subjects obtained before the sitting of the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (A.C.S.E.E.), or East African Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) or equivalent; and
Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (A.C.S.E.E.), or
East African Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) or equivalent with a minimum of two principal level passes in appropriate subjects with total points of not less than 2.0, based on the following scale:

For foreign applicants with Ordinary Certificate of Secondary Education and from countries whose education systems are based on eight years of primary school education, four years of secondary education, and four years of University education, the minimum entrance requirements shall be as follow:
Successful completion of one year of study in a University in their own home country; or
Having taken in Tanzania the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examinations, or its equivalent; or
Having Baccalaureate certificate in approved subjects.
N.B.: Religious score is accepted only to candidates who apply for Bachelor of Islamic Studies or Bachelor of Laws and Shariah.
EQUIVALENT QUALIFICATION
Applicants eligible for equivalent admission for an undergraduate degree programme must hold ordinary Diploma of an overall average not below “B” grade and/or a GPA of not less than 3.0.
PROGRAM SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
The specific entry requirements for the different degree programmes are as follow:
Bachelor of Arts (Education)
a) A minimum of the principal passes in two teaching subjects (English, Kiswahili, Arabic, Geography, History, Economics) with total points of not less than 4.0; or
b) An appropriate Diploma of not lower than Second Class.
Bachelor of Arts (Mass Communication)
A minimum of two principal level passes in arts or science subjects, at the same sitting, with total points of not less than 4.0: and
An appropriate Diploma of not less than Second class/GPA of 3.0.
Bachelor of Islamic Studies with Education
A minimum of two principal passes in appropriate subjects, with total points of not less than 4.0 or
Having obtained at least a Thanawiyah Certificate or it’s equivalent from Islamic schools or colleges.
Bachelor of Business Administration
A minimum of two principal passes in appropriate subjects, with total points of not less than 4.0 or
An appropriate Diploma of not lower than Second Class.
Bachelor of Law and Shariah
A minimum of two principal passes in the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination
A Thanawiyah certificate and or its equivalent from Islamic schools or colleges.
Applicants selected to join the University are required to:
1. Bring with them original transcripts of grades from schools attended, copies of certificates received and other relevant documents as declared in the application forms.
2. All submitted academic records will be thoroughly checked using the NECTA database during registration.
3. Legal action shall be taken against any applicant, who presents forged documents.
4. Furnish the University with a satisfactory medical report from a recognized medical practitioner to obtain registration
5. Abide fully by the University Regulations; failure to do so may lead to suspension or complete withdrawal from the studies.
ADMISSIONS REGULATIONS
Usually, new students are admitted between October and November of every year. The academic year consists of eight months. [These dates may be changed by circumstances].
Registration can only be considered if the University receives satisfactory evidence that the candidate will be adequately financed during his/her course at the University.
Applicants from other countries who are in need of financial assistance to meet fees and other expenses are advised to apply for bursaries from their respective governments, employers or other sponsoring agencies. Please refer our Current University Prospectus.
